From idea to experiment, from concept to discovery: an experiment competition was held at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University!

On November 3, a competition was held at the Quantum Experiment Center of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, uniting young students around science, technical creativity, and innovation.
The competition became a real space for research, engineering practice, and interdisciplinary interaction. Here, original ideas were born, bold hypotheses were tested, non-standard solutions were implemented in mock-ups and prototypes, and the results of their own research became the subject of discussion and professional interest.

The event was held with the support of the rector and the university administration with the aim of identifying and supporting talented student youth, revealing their scientific, technical and engineering potential, encouraging invention and developing innovative projects with the prospect of practical application.

This year, 11 works from representatives of 10 faculties of the university were submitted to the competition. The participants demonstrated a wide range of ideas and developments – from scientific experiments, engineering developments, devices, models, physical and 3D models to prototypes, research and educational projects. The topics covered a wide variety of areas: mechanical engineering, materials science, energy conservation, electronics, robotics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, education, psychology, sports and rehabilitation.

The evaluation was carried out according to such criteria as the relevance and novelty of the idea, its scientific or technical validity, practical significance, prospects for implementation, creativity and quality of presentation.

The participants’ works were evaluated by a competition committee.

• Andriy Ivanchenko — Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Socio-Economic Development and Youth Policy, Associate Professor, Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration.
• Yurii Torba — Deputy General Director for Scientific and Experimental and Testing Work of JSC «Ivchenko-Progress», Senior Researcher, Candidate of Technical Sciences.
• Pavlo Tryshyn — Director of LLC “Science Park of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, Associate Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

According to the results of the competition, the winners were determined:

• 1st place — team «Clouds»
  Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications and Faculty of Business Technologies and Economics.
  Participants: Danylo Pletin, Anastasiia Yaroshenko, Maksym Peredyriy.
  Cash reward — 10,000 UAH.
  
• 2nd place — team «Lyvarnyky»
  Faculty of Engineering and Physics.
  Participants: Vladislav Tikhonovsky, Anna Omelchenko.
  Scientific supervisor — Mykhailo Hnatenko.
  Cash reward — 7,000 UAH.
  
• 3rd place — team «Formula of Motion»
  Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management.
  Participants: Alina Silvestruk, Oleksandr Shcherbak.
  Scientific supervisor — Vasyl Mazin.
  Cash reward — 5,000 UAH.

The audience award was won by the «Kmutan» team from the Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications.
