Zaporizhia Polytechnic University participated in the discussion of admission rules–2026: key highlights and proposals

On February 4, a working meeting of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine was held to discuss the draft Procedure for Admission to Higher Education in 2026. The National University “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” was presented by the First Vice-Rector Serhiy Shylo and the Chairman of the Academic Council of the University, Coordinator of the Higher Education Sector of the National Research Council of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Member of the National Team of Experts on Higher Education Reform Volodymyr Bakhrushyn.

The team of our university expresses sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and personally to Deputy Minister Mykola Trofymenko for resuming the practice of offline meetings. Lively discussions and direct dialogue with the developers of admission rules allow us to hear the voice of regional universities and make the admission procedure as effective and understandable as possible for applicants and their families.

During the meeting, the first vice-rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, Serhiy Shylo, drew attention to the strategic role of universities in front-line regions. He emphasized that higher education institutions in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Mykolaiv are today the “islands” that give the regions the opportunity to breathe and develop.

“We sincerely hope for further support from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in maintaining preferential admission conditions. Creating additional incentives for applicants from frontline territories is our common strategic task, which will help young people see their future in their native region and choose local universities,” said Serhiy Shylo.

A special role in the formation of proposals from our university was played by the head of the Academician Volodymyr Bakhrushyn. As a recognized expert in the educational field, Mr. Volodymyr provided a number of thorough and key recommendations to the draft Admission Procedure-2026. His proposals concerned both terminological clarifications and improving the admission mechanisms, which will contribute to the transparency of the entire process.

The results of the discussion outlined several important innovations:
– Synchronization of terms: the results of the additional session of the EVI and EFVV are planned to be published earlier (August 21 instead of August 28) so that everyone can start studying on time.
– Priority of applications: the experience of using priorities for contract applications will be scaled up at the master’s degree program.
– Incentives for talented applicants: decisions are being worked out on providing additional points to participants in all-Ukrainian student intellectual competitions.
– Regional support: it is planned to preserve regional coefficients, the specific values of which will be announced in early June.

For It is important for Zaporizhia Polytechnic to be directly involved in the formation of admission rules in order to defend the interests of the region and future students and make the path to higher education more transparent and accessible.

We continue to work to ensure that admission to the university is clear, fair and comfortable for each applicant.
