From Zaporozhye to Great Britain — through dialogue and understanding
On April 8, a meeting with our partners and friends – the founders of the British non-profit organization “Casus Pax”, Holly Tann and Adam McQuire – took place in the walls of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic. They had a vivid and meaningful conversation with schoolchildren, teachers and postgraduate students of Zaporizhzhia.
Students of Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum No. 31, Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum “Perspektiva”, students of Zaporizhzhia Humanitarian Vocational College, our graduate students and employees took part in the discussion.
The main topics of discussion:
— how media literacy helps distinguish between facts and manipulation
— why critical thinking is a survival skill
— how not to drown in the sea of information sources
— education systems in Ukraine and Great Britain: common features and differences.
We are proud of our Zaporizhia schoolchildren who easily and fluently conduct discussions in English, raise important topics and are open to new knowledge.
The meeting was held with the support of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation on the basis of the Educational Hub of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University.
Many thanks to Holly Tann and Adam McQuire for a warm, insightful, engaging conversation! We appreciate the support that Great Britain provides to Ukraine and to our University in particular! We are waiting for new meetings!
