Easter + movies + English = bright pre-holiday activity for schoolchildren!
On April 19, the “Carousel of Directions” group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University held a pre-holiday class in the “FREETIME” youth hub. This time the theme is Easter in the movies, not only in Ukrainian, but also in English-speaking traditions.
Under the guidance of associate professors of the department of foreign philology and translation — Yuriy Polezhaeva and Victoria Horlachova — students of grades 6-7 took part in a linguistic and cultural journey.
What activities did the schoolchildren engage in?
— they learned English vocabulary about Easter
— they solved interesting tests
— they discussed the traditions of celebrating Easter in Ukraine, the USA, Great Britain and other countries
— they tasted paska and exchanged their favorite holiday stories
— and most importantly — they communicated in English a lot, actively, with pleasure, overcoming language barriers
