Representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University participated in the discussion of the new Civil Code of Ukraine
On September 23, representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University as part of the Zaporizhzhia region delegation took part in a meeting with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, dedicated to discussing the draft of the new Civil Code of Ukraine.
The event was attended by representatives of state authorities and local governments, people’s deputies of Ukraine, educators and students of higher education institutions of Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions. The Zaporizhzhia region was represented by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council Olena Zhuk, people’s deputies of Ukraine Artem Kunayev and Pavlo Melnyk, as well as participants delegated from universities in the region.
The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was represented at the meeting by the first vice-rector Serhiy Shylo, the head of the student government Anastasiia Steshenko, and the representative of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Oleksiy Kramarenko.
During the meeting, Ruslan Stefanchuk presented the draft of the new Civil Code of Ukraine, outlined the main approaches and ideas underlying its development, and also drew attention to the use of modern European legal practices.
The current Civil Code of Ukraine was adopted in 2003, and since then, social relations have undergone significant changes. Digitalization has become an integral part of everyday life, new forms of digital assets and content have appeared, social networks and artificial intelligence technologies are rapidly developing. Therefore, the new civil legislation must take into account not only European legal practices, but also the modern realities of Ukraine and the dynamics of social changes.
Ruslan Stefanchuk paid special attention to the role of universities as centers not only of education and science, but also of the formation of public opinion, the development of new ideas and initiatives. In his opinion, the university environment should be one of the platforms for professional discussion of legislative changes that will determine the further development of the state.
The presentation was followed by an open discussion that lasted over an hour. The participants discussed a wide range of issues related to the future of civil law, its relevance to modern social relations, and the challenges of today.
In conclusion, Ruslan Stefanchuk thanked the representatives of the university community and all participants of the meeting for their active participation, interest, and meaningful discussion.
