Class «It’s not magic – it’s Micro:bit! How smart devices are born»
On September 26, an exciting class «It’s not magic – it’s Micro:bit! How smart devices are born» took place as part of the Science Kids project.
The class was conducted by Olena Nazarova, Associate Professor of the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations, Director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
Young researchers got acquainted with the capabilities of the Micro:bit microcomputer and learned how smart devices that surround us in everyday life are created. Of particular interest was the practical part of the lesson, during which the participants implemented two of their own STEM projects:
– «Magic Ball» — a device that can answer questions «Yes» or «No»
– «Compass» — a smart assistant that determines the cardinal points depending on the position of the Micro:bit in space
No less exciting were the discussions about why modern devices are called «smart», what components are necessary for their operation, and what future technologies could become. Students expressed their own ideas, fantasized, and suggested interesting options for using smart devices in various areas of life.
We sincerely thank Holly Tann, director of the Casus Pax charity, for supporting the development of STEM education and providing Micro:bit kits that help schoolchildren take their first steps into the world of engineering, programming, and invention.
Together we discover the world of science, technology and future possibilities!
