Conversation club with the founders of the British non-profit organization "Casus Pax"
On October 27th we had an exciting meeting at the Conversation Club with our incredible UK volunteers Adam McQuire and Holly Tann! It was a wonderful exchange of ideas and experiences that united schoolchildren from the 6th grade, students of colleges and NU “Zaporizka Polytechnic”.
Great Britain has become closer to us thanks to lively discussions and joint reflections. We delved into the following topics:
– is it really 5 o’clock: we discussed stereotypes about the British and the iconic tradition of the tea party
– from the classics to the modern: we shared our thoughts on favorite writers and school literature programs
– the royal family and Christmas: we mentioned the King’s speech and compared the traditions of celebrating Christmas in both countries
– culinary travel: they discussed their favorite dishes: from the classic British bacon and eggs to traditional Ukrainian borscht and banosh.
– more than just a bar: Holly and Adam talked about the pub as a cultural phenomenon of Great Britain
– uniting Ukraine and the world: they shared their impressions of the Ukrainian Radiodictator of National Unity and discussed the importance of volunteering and donating blood
– did not miss the most touching topic – pets: a special guest was Puma, a charming dog, a faithful companion of a military paramedic
Thanks to Adam McQuire and Holly Tann for their enthusiasm and extraordinary openness, and for their dedicated support of educators and learners!
We are also grateful to all participants for their activity!
