NU "Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic" became a participant in the Ukrainian-Norwegian project BioMedMat-UA
NU “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” became a participant in the international Ukrainian-Norwegian educational and scientific project BioMedMat-UA – “Advanced Biomedical Materials and Engineering”, which received funding within the framework of the Nansen EDU program of the Norwegian Directorate of Higher Education and Skills HK-dir.
The project is aimed at developing modern education, science and laboratory facilities in areas that are of particular importance for the recovery of Ukraine: biomedical materials, prosthetics, rehabilitation technologies, medical device engineering and additive technologies.
The BioMedMat-UA project will unite specialists from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NU “Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic” and NTU “Dnipro Polytechnic”. The joint work of the partners will be focused on strengthening the educational and research capacity of Ukrainian universities in the field of biomedical engineering, materials science, rehabilitation technologies and modern production processes.
The project provides for the development of laboratory infrastructure, the creation of new master’s courses, the updating of educational components, the strengthening of practical training of students, as well as the formation of a modern interdisciplinary environment in which materials science, biomedical engineering, additive technologies and medical device manufacturing will work together.
For NU “Zaporizhia Polytechnic”, participation in BioMedMat-UA is not only international recognition, but also an important step towards training a new generation of engineers. These are specialists who will have modern knowledge of materials, technologies, and equipment, and at the same time will understand the humanitarian mission of engineering education in the context of the country’s reconstruction.
The participation of Norwegian partners in this project is not formal support at a distance, but real cooperation with Ukrainian universities working in regions directly affected by the war. This partnership format demonstrates trust in Ukrainian education and science and willingness to work together on long-term results.
We sincerely thank the team of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology — Julia Glaum, Andreas Erbe, and Marisa Di Sabatino — for their trust in Ukrainian partners, openness to cooperation, and willingness to support universities that continue to operate in wartime conditions.
Special thanks to the Ukrainian project teams: representatives of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University — rector, professor of the Department of Physical Materials Science Viktor Greshta, acting the head of this department Daria Tkach, the head of the department of aircraft engine technologies Dmytro Pavlenko and the senior lecturer of the department of physical materials science Mykyta Aikin, as well as colleagues from the National Technical University “Dnipro Polytechnic” – Dmytro Kolosova, Olena Linnyk, Serhiy Onyshchenko and Yulia Slupska.
This project became possible thanks to joint work, professionalism, responsibility and the belief that international cooperation in education and science is an important part of Ukraine’s recovery strategy.
There are projects that remain on paper. And there are projects that help prepare people capable of creating technologies that restore the quality of life. BioMedMat-UA is just that!
