We continue the glorious traditions of the Hetmanate!
On August 28, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University joined the historical and patriotic marathon-rally-cross «Great Race Ukraine-Europa RUH2026» and the national series of competitions «Golden Steering Wheel of Ukraine», organized on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine and the 35th anniversary of the NGO «Society for the Promotion of the Defense of Ukraine».
The participants were welcomed by the rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Viktor Greshta, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the Heroes, developing patriotic education of youth and popularizing the technical achievements of Ukraine.
The guests of honor at the event were representatives of state authorities, public organizations, and the veteran community and traffic: Deputy Head of the Department of Youth and Sports of the Regional State Administration Vladyslav Kovpak; Deputy of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Organization «Society for the Promotion of the Defense of Ukraine» Oksana Bugaychuk; First Deputy of the Association of Veterans of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhia Region, Head of the Service of Civil Protection, Fire, Technogenic Safety, Labor Protection and Military Accounting of the University, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law Andriy Dolynnyi; President of the International Automobile League «Golden Steering Wheel of Ukraine», Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Clubs Roman Shchypkov.
The meeting began with a tribute to the memory of the Defenders of Ukraine. It is thanks to the courage of Ukrainian soldiers that young people have the opportunity to study, get an education and build their future. Thank you to each and every one who defends our country!
A special place in the event was occupied by the story of Hero Anatolii Nemchyn, a graduate of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University, who, with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, stood up to defend Ukraine. The serviceman with the call sign «Samurai» died on March 10, 2023, defending the Motherland in the Zaporizhzhia direction. He was posthumously awarded the Order «For Courage» of the 3rd degree.
The memory of the Hero lives on in the university community, and his name has become a symbol of courage, devotion and love for Ukraine. During the event, the Anatolii Nemchin Memorial Cup was presented to the best participant in the historical and patriotic marathon.
A seven-meter blue-and-yellow banner was solemnly unfurled on the square near the central entrance to the Polytechnic Institute — a licensed copy of the historical flag of Independence of Ukraine, which the people’s deputies introduced to the Verkhovna Rada on August 24, 1991.
An important part of the meeting was the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian designer and organizer of the automotive industry Stepan Kravchun, long-time director of the Zaporizhzhia Automobile Plant «AvtoZAZ».
The marathon united representatives of the university community, government bodies, public organizations, veterans, the automotive community and everyone who cares about the history, technology and future of Ukraine.
At the end, the participants inspected historical, classic and innovative cars and visited the Museum of the History of Technical Progress of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.
Such meetings help to combine the memory of the past, respect for the Heroes, modern achievements and faith in the future of Ukraine.
We remember those who gave their lives for Ukraine.
