Zaporizhia Polytechnic team won the II All-Ukrainian Hackathon "Energy of the Future"
On April 14, the II All-Ukrainian Hackathon “Energy of the Future” took place in Lutsk. Hackathon is a startup competition that brought together youth, business and educational institutions for energy innovation. Teams from leading technical institutions of higher education in Ukraine took part.
The event is possible within the “Professional Qualifications” component of the “Promotion of Energy Efficiency and Implementation of the EU Directive on Energy Efficiency in Ukraine” project, implemented in Ukraine by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Government, with the support of the “Energy Efficiency School” NGO.
The winning team of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic – “Green GigaWat”, took first place in the competition and became the absolute champion of the All-Ukrainian hackathon. Also, the team became the best according to the voting results of other student teams from Ukrainian universities.
Zaporizka Polytechnic National University was represented by two teams from the Electrical Engineering Faculty. “Green GigaWatt” (GGW/Green GigaWatt) from the Department of Electric Machines and “Eco mesh” from the Department of Electromechanical Automation and Electric Drive Systems.
The “Green GigaWatt” team consisted of students: Oleksiy Silyutin (E-253sp), Danylo Maltsev (E-211), Mykhailo Ilchenko (E-252sp) and assistant professor of the department Oleksiy Petryk. Under the leadership of senior teacher Viktor Bondarenko, the team presented at the competition a modular system based on the Scandinavian ventilated facade “Marmoroc” (Ukrainian brand – “Scala”). It integrates solar panels and wind generators with additional functionality: facade landscaping, video surveillance, lighting, outdoor advertising, etc.
Svitlana Lapkina, an assistant at the Department of Electrical Machines, and Andriy Barbashov, head of the “Scala Trading and Industrial Company” LLC, acted as consultants on technical issues.
