Ecological action "Plant a tree - peace will grow!"

On April 5, the team and students of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic University took part in the environmental campaign “Plant a tree – grow peace!” on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace and in support of the initiative of the National Olympic Committee.

This year, the action took place in front of the sports complex of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic University as a sign of support for the most athletic institution of higher education in the Zaporizhia region, whose sports infrastructure was damaged by the bombing of the aggressor on November 11, 2024: https://zp.edu.ua/poshkodzhennya-gurtozhytku-no2-ta-sportkompleksu-universytetu-11-lystopada-2024-roku

Rector of Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic National University Victor Greshta, Deputy Chairman of the ZODA Mykhailo Semikin, and Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Branch of the NOC of Ukraine Nataliya Vlasova congratulated the participants of the action. Oleksandr Zlobenets, head of the Department of Youth, Physical Culture and Sports of ZODA, Yuriy Shepel, head of the Zaporizhia Regional Branch of the Committee for Physical Education and Sports of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, Eduard Bagyrov, head of the Department of Sports and Physical Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Ukraine, and director of the Zaporizhia Regional School of Higher Sports Mastery Oleksiy Hatsulya joined the action.

Prominent athletes and coaches from Zaporizhia were also present at the celebration: Olympic champion Olga Strazheva, bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in handball Oksana Rykhel, thirteen-time record holder of the Guinness Book of Records in kettlebell sports Lyubov Cherepaha, as well as Honored Masters of Sports of Ukraine in boxing and fencing, Masters of Sports of Ukraine of international class in sports aerobics and diving, Honored coaches of Ukraine in sports aerobics, boxing and triathlon and Masters of Sports of Ukraine in sports aerobics, athletics, taekwondo, triathlon, judo and academic rowing.

Teachers and employees of the university were awarded thanks and diplomas for many years of conscientious work, high achievements in the development of physical culture and sports, active participation in the organization and holding of sports competitions and on the occasion of the International Sports Day.

A total of 14 plants were planted during the campaign: 5 mountain ash, 5 catalpa and 4 juniper trees. We thank JSC “Motor Sich” for the provided seedlings!
