The goals of the educational program «Composite and Powder Materials, Coatings» correspond to the mission of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University – to contribute to the development of the Ukrainian state and society, in particular the South-Eastern region of Ukraine, forming highly qualified and nationally conscious human potential, creating new knowledge and providing conditions for personal development. The program is aimed at ensuring that applicants for the second (master’s) level of higher education acquire the competencies and program learning outcomes necessary for the effective and successful performance of production, scientific and pedagogical activities; duties of an applied nature related to production and the professional sphere, as well as other socially important skills (soft skills). In a professional context, it is the training of specialists who possess modern engineering thinking to solve complex tasks and problems related to the development of new composite and powder materials and compositions for coating, technologies for their production, their testing and application in production; predicting the structure and properties of metallic and composite materials and products based on them, which involves conducting research and/or implementing innovations that are characterized by uncertainty of conditions and requirements.
Teaching and Assessment
The main approaches are student-centered and problem-based learning, e-learning using blended and distance learning technologies (Moodle platform https://moodle.zp.edu.ua), self-study, and research-based learning. Teaching is carried out in the form of lectures, practical classes, laboratory work, classroom or online consultations, individual classes, independent and project work using multimedia equipment. Learning to criticize one’s own work, constructively criticize the work of others, and productively use critical comments from others. Independent work with information in the university library and use of Internet resources. Individual consultations of university lecturers, managers and leading specialists of construction industry enterprises.
OPP provides for at least 25% of the training volume at the student’s choice.
Assessment methods – exams, tests, credits, laboratory reports, practice reports, tests, ongoing and final control, preparation of qualification work. Assessment is carried out on two scales: 100-point (for exams, differentiated credits, practice reports, final qualification work); two-point «passed»/«not passed» (for credits). Methods for assessing learning outcomes for individual educational components are developed and implemented in accordance with the «Regulations on the Organization of the Educational Process at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University» (approved by the order of the rector dated April 04, 2025 No. 147 (https://zp.edu.ua/uploads/dept_nm/Pol_pro_orhanizatsiyu_osvitniogo_protsesu.pdf) and are reflected in the work programs and syllabi of the relevant educational components.
Resource Provision
Teaching of individual educational components is carried out by doctors of sciences, professors, candidates of sciences, associate professors, specialists in the field of materials science and related subject areas who comply with the current Licensing Conditions for the conduct of educational activities in the field of higher education and have experience in scientific and pedagogical and/or practical work. Staffing is carried out in accordance with the «Regulations on the accreditation of educational programs for the training of higher education applicants» (Criterion 6. Human resources), approved by Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated July 11, 2019 No. 977.
In order to improve their professional level, all scientific and pedagogical employees undergo an internship once every five years.
In accordance with the technological requirements for educational, methodological and information support of educational activities of the corresponding level of higher education (Appendix 4 to the Licensing Conditions), approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 12/30/2015 No. 1187 with amendments made in accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 347 dated 05/10/2018, the educational laboratory base, modern computer equipment and software allow organizing and conducting classes on educational components. The general infrastructure of the university includes educational buildings with specialized and subject classrooms, catering facilities, a sports and recreation complex, and dormitories.
In accordance with the requirements of the Licensing Terms, the implementation of educational activities includes library resources: scientific and technical library https://zp.edu.ua/nauka2/naukovabiblioteka/. The library combines traditional library funds, a fund of electronic documents, technological complexes that provide access to global information resources, in particular to Elsevier (SCOPUS) resources, Web of Science.
The official website of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University https://zp.edu.ua/, and the website of the department https://zp.edu.ua/department/kompozicijnimateriali-himija-ta-tehnologii/ contain basic information on the implementation of educational activities under the educational program.
