The modern world cannot be imagined without electrical engineering and automated systems. From energy and transport to robotics and «smart» industries – engineers who are able to create, debug and improve electrical complexes are needed everywhere. The educational program GG88 «Electrical Engineering and Automation» at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University combines two specialties: G3 – Electrical Engineering (Basic) and G 7 Automation, computer-integrated technologies and robotics, therefore it trains precisely such specialists – universal engineers of the future, who have knowledge of electrical engineering, electronics, information technologies and automation.
This interdisciplinary program was created based on the experience of the partner university of Stuttgart (Germany), which is part of the elite German association TU9. It is focused on combining fundamental technical training with practical skills in modern laboratories and innovative spaces. Students study electrical engineering, electronics, automatic control systems, microprocessor technology, industrial controllers, sensor complexes and software for automated systems. Special emphasis is placed on the integration of electrical engineering with information technologies – from digital signal processing to the design of «smart» energy and production systems.
The training combines lectures, laboratory work, course design and independent research activities. Students have the opportunity for academic mobility – both national (leading technical universities of Ukraine) and international (Erasmus+, DAAD, partnership programs with European universities). The teachers are experienced engineers and scientists who cooperate with enterprises in the energy, mechanical engineering, aviation and IT industries, which provides practice-oriented training and dual education.
Career prospects. Graduates of the program are in demand in the following positions:
- electrical engineer and automation engineer;
- control systems and embedded software developer;
- specialist in energy systems, industrial robotics and «smart» manufacturing;
- digital transformation consultant and research engineer in the field of innovative technologies.
A career can develop both in the technical direction – design and implementation of electrical and automated systems, and in the managerial direction – management of innovative projects, participation in international research and consulting.
«Electrical Engineering and Automation» is the choice of those who strive to create technologies that drive the modern world and become an engineer without whom it is impossible to imagine the future of energy, transport and industry.
