The creation in 2002 of the Faculty of Humanities as part of the oldest and largest higher education institution in the Zaporizhia region demonstrated the consideration of the processes taking place in the modern world. In the conditions of the creation of an independent state, Ukraine became an independent subject of international relations, which necessitated the training of specialists who could properly ensure the national, including economic, interests of the state in the international arena. On the other hand, from the first years of its operation, the university always had a powerful humanitarian component, which was manifested both in the educational process and in extracurricular educational work with students. It was laid by D.M. Podderyogin, director of the Alexander Mechanical and Technical School in 1900–1920. It is also worth mentioning the famous historian and local historian Ya.P. Novytsky, under whose leadership the students of the school carried out excavations of mounds, collected collections of antiquities, recorded stories of local residents about the names of rocks, caves on the banks of the Dnieper, on the island of Khortytsia, connected with the Cossack period of the history of Ukraine. These traditions were further supported and multiplied, enriched.
Since its establishment, the Dean of the Faculty has been appointed Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Dedkov Mykola Vasilyevich. On October 2, 2002, a general meeting of teachers and employees of the newly created faculty and a constituent trade union conference of students were held. These events became the starting point for the activities of the new structural unit of ZNTU.
The Dean’s Office of the Faculty consists of four people: Dean – Associate Professor Dedkov M.V., his deputy – senior lecturer Mozulenko D.I. and two methodologists – Udod I.V. and Yurkevich O.I.
