From successful practices to new competitions: NCP “Research Infrastructures” held a webinar for scientists
On June 11, representatives of the National Contact Point “Research Infrastructures”, operating at the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University, held an information webinar dedicated to successful practices of participation of Ukrainian organizations in Horizon Europe projects in the relevant area. The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions and scientific institutions interested in cooperation with European partners.
In the first part of the webinar, leading specialist of the National Contact Point Myroslava Shchetinina presented the dynamics of Ukraine’s involvement in the program in the “Research Infrastructures” area: compared to Horizon 2020, the number of Ukrainian organizations has increased significantly, and the success rate of submitted applications reached about 33–35%, which is a high result for the competitive European environment. The speaker also noted the change in the structure of participants: the share of higher and secondary education institutions and research organizations has significantly increased, which indicates the increasingly active involvement of universities and scientific institutions in European projects. Examples of successful cooperation include the POLARIN project, thanks to which the Ukrainian Antarctic station “Akademik Vernadsky” is integrated into the global network for monitoring climate, ice sheets and ocean changes, as well as the ARTEMIS project, within the framework of which the Odesa company participated in the creation of digital twins of architectural monuments for innovative protection of the cultural heritage of Ukraine and Europe.
In the second part of the webinar, the leading specialist of the National Center for Research and Innovation Natalia Solidor presented the roadmap of competitions of the Horizon Europe program in the direction of “Research Infrastructures” for 2026. A special emphasis was placed on priority support for Ukrainian participants: the program provides for simplified access to competitions, priority selection for equal scientific achievements, extended duration of research visits, as well as additional training and support. The speaker separately drew attention to the competition HORIZON-INFRA-2026-DEV-01-05, dedicated directly to Ukraine and aimed at using research infrastructures as accelerators for the integration of our country into the European Research Area.
The webinar ended with a question and answer session, during which the participants discussed with the NCP specialists the issue of finding relevant competitions and other aspects of participation in the Horizon Europe program. The interest of Ukrainian scientists in European programs is growing, they are always ready for full-fledged cooperation within the European Research Area. We hope that the information received will help participants successfully implement their own project ideas, and the number of successful Ukrainian applications in the 2026 competitions will only grow!
