The future is on a 3D printer!
On April 12, students of grades 8-11 took part in a master class on 3D printing, which was organized by the NGO “Zaporizhia without garbage” in cooperation with the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of NU “Zaporizhia Polytechnic”, with the assistance of Zero Waste Alliance Ukraine and with the support of Zero Waste Europe and MAVA Foundation.
The meeting was opened by the director of DYNU, Olena Nazarova, and NGO representatives Ivan Kalosha and Liza Ivanova, who talked about eco-conscious approaches: technologies should not harm nature, on the contrary, help preserve it.
3D printing technology is not the first to become a tool of eco-change: it helps to reduce the amount of garbage and support the “reuse-repair-recycling” approach.
And what practical tasks did Dmytro Kozak, the head of the “3D printing in mechanical engineering” group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University, prepare for the schoolchildren?
— they studied how 3D printers work
— they created their own 3D model in a special program
— they learned about the properties of different types of plastic
— they independently made 3D parts
And at the end — a lively discussion:
— how to reduce the amount of plastic waste?
— conscious use of technology
— environmental challenges associated with the use of plastic
There are many questions about whether schoolchildren can influence eco-processes already today: even now the youngest citizens are ready to invest in a future where innovations become eco-friendly!
We work together — we develop together!
