Volodymyr Hryhorovych Shevchenko

Volodymyr Hryhorovych Shevchenko was born on December 12, 1957 in the city of Zaporizhzhia. Formal education began in 1965 with the first grade of secondary school #78.  After finishing the eighth grade, he decided to enter the Zaporizhia Mechanical Engineering Institute. After graduating from school in 1975, he entered the first course of the Zaporizhia Machine-Building Institute named after V.Ya. Chubarya in the specialty: "Equipment and technology of welding production" (OTZV). The staff of the department was headed by Veniamin Stepanovich Popov - an experienced teacher and a well-known scientist. Later, for a long time, he combined the positions of rector and head of the department of OTZV.  At that time, the institute was headed by Pavlo Andreevich Mykhaylov, a rector-developer, a highly cultured, intelligent and decent person. His indisputable authority for many years is a true example and reference point of conscientious service to the development of technical education in the Zaporizhzhia region for all teachers and scientists of our educational institution.   In 1980, with a diploma in mechanical engineering, he began working as a foreman at the cantilever transformer beam manufacturing section of the Zaporizhzhia Transformer Plant's welding shop.   In 1982, he took the position of engineer of the welding laboratory of the "Ukrkolormetremont" trust.   Since 1984, he has held the position of a junior researcher at the sectoral research laboratory of materials science.   Scientific work under the leadership of Professor Ivan Petrovych Volchko was interesting, effective and productive. After completing correspondence postgraduate studies in 1991, he defended his candidate's thesis in the specialty "Materials Science".   At the moment, he works in his native "Mashinka" as the head of the department.
