Volodymyr Hryhorovych SHEVCHENKO

Shevchenko Volodymyr Grigorovich, born on December 12, 1957 in the city of Zaporizhzhia. Formal education began in 1965 with the first grade of secondary school No. 78. After graduating from the eighth grade, he decided to enter the Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute. After graduating from school in 1975, he entered the first year of the Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute named after V.Ya. Chubar, majoring in: «Equipment and Technology of Welding Production» (OTZV). The department was headed by Veniamin Stepanovych Popov - an experienced teacher and a well-known scientist. Later, for a long time he combined the positions of rector and head of the OTZV department. At that time, the institute was headed by Pavlo Andriyovych Mikhailov, a rector-developer, a highly cultured, intelligent and decent person. His unquestionable authority for many years has been a true example and a benchmark of conscientious service to the cause of developing technical education in the Zaporizhia region for all teachers and scientists of our educational institution. In 1980, with a diploma in mechanical engineering, he began working as a foreman at the section for the manufacture of cantilever transformer beams in the welding shop of the Zaporizhia Transformer Plant. In 1982, he took up the position of welding laboratory engineer at the Ukrcolormetremont Trust. Since 1984, he has been a junior research associate at the industry research laboratory of materials science. Scientific work under the guidance of Professor Ivan Petrovich Volchk was interesting, effective and productive. After completing his correspondence postgraduate studies in 1991, he defended his PhD thesis in the specialty «Materials Science». Currently, he works in his native «machine» as the head of the department.
