Participation of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University in the development of Zaporizhzhia’s vision of the future within the framework of the “Senses of Cities” initiative

The development of a vision of the future has started in Zaporizhia within the framework of the “Senses of Cities” initiative. Researchers Andriy Melnyk and Oleksandr Filonenko continue the systematic collection of community value codes, transforming them into strategic landmarks of regional identity. The priority area of ​​the discussion was the revival of engineering culture, where the National University “Zaporizhia Polytechnic” acts as a basic center of technical education and innovative development.

Representatives of the Polytechnic took an active part in the strategic session, where they substantiated the fundamental thesis: “Zaporizhia is a powerful intellectual center, and Zaporizhia Polytechnic is a reliable foundation that preserves and modernizes one of the strongest schools for training engineers in Ukraine.” It is this scientific and technical potential that should become the basis for the large-scale technological renewal of the state.

Associate Professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies Volodymyr Chop reminded that engineering is embedded in the genetic code of our institution.

The modern model of engineering education was presented by the deans of the university’s faculties. They demonstrated that engineering at Zaporizhia Polytechnic is a comprehensive approach to creating the future. The Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Vasyl Glushko, emphasized the importance of preserving classical engineering standards in combination with modern production challenges. Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology Maria Tyagunova revealed the aspect of digitalization of engineering, where IT technologies become an integral part and driver of modern engineering.

Special attention was paid to the concept of diversification: it is the presence of a fundamental engineering school that creates the basis for the development of new interdisciplinary areas and adaptation to the challenges of modernity.

Tetyana Khitrova, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, in her speech emphasized the historical continuity of the university’s leading engineering and scientific schools and their long-standing synergy with the industrial sector of the region. 

Today  National University “Zaporizhzhya Polytechnic” is training a new generation of specialists who will become architects of the technological renewal of Ukraine and return Zaporizhzhia the status of a world engineering center. Even in the conditions of a front-line city, under constant enemy shelling, we not only maintain high standards of training, but also form a strategy for the revival of engineering education at the national level. Working together – developing together!
