The educational program «Welding Technologies and Equipment» of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University trains engineers who can not only weld, but also create truly durable and modern solutions.
Here you will deeply study welding technologies, modern equipment, robotic complexes, materials science, process automation and quality control. The program combines strong theoretical training with a lot of practice. You will work in well-equipped laboratories, where there is all the necessary equipment, including modern robotic systems.
The training is conducted by the Department of «Integrated Welding Technologies and Structural Modeling». The teachers are experienced specialists who work closely with production. Students regularly undergo internships at real enterprises, carry out interesting projects and already during their studies they acquire in-demand skills.

Program Profile

  • Object of activity:

    Scientific and engineering foundations of applied mechanics, structures, machines, equipment, devices, mechanical and mechatronic systems and complexes based on them, which are based on the phenomena of mechanics, their design, modeling, construction and manufacturing technology, installation, operation and repair.

  • Theoretical content:

    Theories, concepts, concepts, principles of applying knowledge of mechanics to solve applied problems of engineering and technology.

  • Methods and technologies:

    Methods of physical, mathematical and computer modeling of mechanical systems, data analysis, project management methods, modern digital technologies, technologies of applied mechanics (according to specialization)

  • Tools and equipment:

    Technological, laboratory and control and measuring equipment (according to specialization), specialized software provision.

The program aims to train highly educated and nationally conscious specialists who are able to contribute to the development and maintenance of the defense capability of the Ukrainian state and society, the South-Eastern region of Ukraine through intellectual support of enterprises, institutions and organizations; creating new knowledge and technologies in the field of applied mechanics; providing opportunities and conditions for personal development; solving complex applied specialized tasks and practical problems of welding and related processes and technologies through the implementation of the following goals:
1) To form highly educated and nationally conscious specialists in the field of engineering, capable of contributing to the development of the Ukrainian state and the Zaporizhzhia region, actively participating in the development of the industrial complex taking into account the global goals of sustainable development;
2) Integrate the results of scientific and applied research, innovation activities into the educational program «Welding Technologies and Equipment» in order to constantly improve the quality of education in the field of engineering in accordance with the standards and recommendations for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area, in compliance with the principles of student-centered learning and academic integrity
3) Provide conditions for comprehensive personal development by activating external academic mobility of higher education applicants for the educational program «Welding Technologies and Equipment», scientific and pedagogical, scientific and pedagogical employees of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University; increasing the motivation and involvement of applicants in the educational process; implementing a personalized approach to learning based on the widespread use of distance educational technologies and services, forming individual educational trajectories in the field of engineering, taking into account the possibilities of informal and non-formal education.

Teaching and Assessment

Student-oriented learning, problem-oriented learning, etc.

Teaching methods: explanatory and illustrative, practical, problem-search, research.

Forms of organizing educational activity: a combination of lectures and lecture-discussions; seminars; laboratory and practical work in small groups, individual tasks, consultations, independent work on studying educational materials published on the Moodle distance learning platform; video lectures; scientific and research work of applicants; practical training; course design and completion of certification work.

When implementing the dual education program, the applicant performs the practical part of the curriculum at a partner enterprise under the guidance of a mentor from the enterprise.

Semester exams and tests, defense of a course project, defense of a practice report, public defense of a qualification work.

Evaluation of academic achievements of higher education applicants is carried out: on a 100-point scale or on a two-point scale (passed – not passed). Positive grades for all forms of control are grades from 60 to 100 points on a 100-point scale and a «passed» grade on a two-point scale. The limit of unsatisfactory learning according to the results of the final control is a grade below 60 points on a 100-point scale or a «not passed» grade on a two-point scale. Obtaining a grade of 60 points and above implies obtaining positive grades in all mandatory types of current control specified in the educational component curriculum.

Resource Provision

The implementation of educational activities within the framework of the implementation of the educational program is provided by experienced scientific and pedagogical (pedagogical) workers necessary for the implementation of educational components, in accordance with the current Licensing Conditions for the implementation of educational activities.

The main staff of teachers involved in teaching the educational program consists of the teaching staff of the Department of Integrated Welding Technologies and Structural Modeling. Scientific and pedagogical workers who implement the educational component are active and recognized scientists, the vast majority have scientific degrees and academic titles (over 85%), publish works in domestic and foreign scientific publications, have a confirmed level of scientific and professional activity, appropriate professional competence and experience in the profile of the disciplines in which they are involved. The teaching of individual educational components of the educational program and their parts involves the involvement of practitioners and competent industry experts.

In accordance with the technological requirements of the current Licensing Conditions for the Conduct of Educational Activities.

The general infrastructure of the university includes educational buildings with specialized and subject-specific auditoriums, cafeterias, a sports and recreation complex, and dormitories.

The educational process according to the educational program is carried out in the auditoriums, laboratories and computer classes of the university, which are equipped with multimedia teaching aids, licensed software for CAD/CAM/CAE systems and other laboratory and technical and welding equipment. In addition, the graduate department «Integrated Welding Technologies and Structural Modeling» has an agreement on partnership and cooperation with the company «Triada-Welding» LLC for teaching individual educational components of the educational program and their parts. The educational laboratory of the enterprise is equipped with a modern robotic welding complex, which fully meets the needs of the educational components taught according to the curriculum.

Attestation

The certification of higher education applicants for the educational and professional program «Welding Technologies and Equipment» specialty G9 «Applied Mechanics» is carried out in the form of a public defense of a bachelor’s qualification thesis.

The qualification thesis must involve solving a complex specialized task or practical problem of applied mechanics in the field of welding technologies and equipment, characterized by the complexity and uncertainty of conditions with the use of theories and methods of mechanical engineering.

The qualification thesis must not contain academic plagiarism, fabrication, falsification.

The qualification thesis must be published in the repository of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

The publication of qualification thesis containing information with limited access is carried out in accordance with to the requirements of current legislation.
