Social work

The educational and professional program «Social Work» is aimed at training specialists who are able to professionally solve complex problems in the social sphere, conduct research, develop and implement social projects and innovative technologies. The program combines theoretical training with practical mastery of modern methods of social work, management and professional communication.
The training covers innovative methods and technologies in the social sphere, social policy, professional interaction and communication, social work quality management, project management, methodology and organization of scientific research. An important component is an interdisciplinary course project, pre-diploma practice and completion of qualification work.
Applicants develop competencies in conducting quantitative and qualitative research, analyzing social problems, professionally diagnosing and forecasting social situations, organizing interdisciplinary interaction, managing social projects and assessing the quality of social services. Special attention is paid to social inclusion, human rights, sustainable development, professional reflection and implementation of research results into practice.
The program provides student-centered, problem-oriented and project-based learning, as well as opportunities for academic mobility. Graduates are able to autonomously make decisions in complex situations, develop and implement social projects and technologies, coordinate the work of specialists from different fields and ensure the development of social services.

social well-being of the population, determinants that influence it; organizational, managerial, expert, control and analytical, project, scientific and research activities in the social sphere
Theoretical content:

concepts, concepts, principles of social development of individuals and communities and their use to explain the patterns of social processes, social protection and assistance to vulnerable groups of the population
Methods and technologies:

methods and technologies for collecting, processing and interpreting research results in the social sphere and in the field of scientific research
Tools and equipment:

modern universal and specialized information systems and software products used in the social sphere and in the field of scientific research

training of specialists capable of solving complex tasks and problems in the social sphere or in the process of learning, which involves conducting research and/or implementing innovations and is characterized by uncertainty of conditions and requirements

Teaching and Assessment

Student-centered, problem-oriented learning and initiative self-learning. Dominant methods and ways of learning: active (problem-based, interactive, project-based, self-development), etc. Organizational forms of learning: distance, collective and interactive.

Semester exams and tests, defense of a coursework (project), defense of a practice report, public defense of a qualification work, certification exam, etc.

Evaluation of academic achievements of higher education applicants is carried out: on a 100-point scale or on a two-point scale (passed – not passed)

Positive grades for all forms of control are grades from 60 to 100 points on a 100-point scale and a grade of «passed» on a two-point scale. The limit of unsatisfactory learning according to the results of the final control is a grade below 60 points on a 100-point scale or a grade of «not passed» on a two-point scale. Obtaining a grade of 60 points and above implies obtaining positive grades in all mandatory types of current control specified in the educational component curriculum

Academic Mobility

The certification of higher education applicants in the educational and professional program «Social Work» specialty I10 «Social Work and Counseling» is carried out in the form of a public defense of a master’s thesis.

The thesis must involve solving a complex specialized task or problem in the social sphere, accompanied by research and/or the use of innovative approaches.

The thesis must not contain academic plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification.

The thesis must be published in the repository of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

Publication of thesis containing information with limited access, is carried out in accordance with the requirements of current legislation.
