Human health, restoration of motor activity and return to a full life after injuries, diseases and surgical interventions are among the most important challenges of the modern healthcare system. The educational and professional program «Physical Rehabilitation» of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University trains highly qualified specialists who are able to apply modern evidence-based approaches to prevention, rehabilitation and restoration of human functional capabilities.
During their studies, students master fundamental medical and biological disciplines, the basics of physical therapy, therapeutic exercises, massage, biomechanics, clinical assessment, modern methods of physical therapy for diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, nervous, cardiovascular and respiratory systems, as well as physical therapy in pediatrics, gerontology and neurorehabilitation. Special attention is paid to the application of the biopsychosocial model, the principles of the International Classification of Functioning (ICF), evidence-based medicine and modern means and technologies of physical therapy.
The educational program combines high-quality theoretical training with wide opportunities for practical training. Students undergo clinical practice in healthcare institutions, work with modern equipment, acquire skills in clinical thinking, assessment of the functional state of patients, planning and implementation of individual physical therapy programs in accordance with international professional standards.
Training is carried out at the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management under the guidance of experienced scientific and pedagogical workers and practicing specialists. The program develops professional competencies, critical thinking, communication skills, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and constantly improve professional skills.
Graduates of the program can work as assistants to physical therapists in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient facilities, sports and rehabilitation institutions, private clinics, sanatoriums and resorts, inclusive resource centers, and also continue their studies at the second (master’s) level of higher education.
