Teaching and Assessment
Teaching and learning is based on the implementation of modern educational approaches that ensure student-centered learning, development of critical thinking, engineering culture and professional autonomy of higher education students. The educational process is based on a combination of problem-oriented, practice-oriented and interactive learning with the use of digital technologies, information resources and elements of self-learning. Considerable attention is paid to the formation of the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solve real engineering problems in the field of construction and civil engineering. The study of educational components involves lectures, practical, laboratory classes, performance of computational and graphic works, course projects, individual tasks, work in small groups, which contributes to the formation of professional communications and interdisciplinary interaction. The educational process includes the use of modern automated design software (CAD/CAE/BIM), implementation of educational and research projects, analysis of engineering solutions, participation in professional discussions, presentation of design and research results. Special attention is paid to the individual and independent work of applicants under the guidance of teachers during course and qualification design, work with normative documentation, scientific sources and digital resources, use of the material and technical base of the university (laboratories, computer classes, specialized software). Applicants are involved in the performance of practice-oriented tasks, project activities and interaction with enterprises and organizations of the construction industry, which contributes to the formation of professional competences and readiness for practical activities.
Education quality control involves a system of control measures and analytical work on evaluating the learning outcomes of applicants in accordance with the goals of the educational program and programs of educational components. Learning outcomes are evaluated using various forms of control using a 100-point rating scale or a two-point scale (passed / failed). The share of mandatory educational components, which provide for a final assessment on a 100-point scale, is at least 70% of the total number of educational components.
Control measures include final control, and may also include input, current, intermediate (borderline) control and other forms of assessment determined by programs of educational components. Assessment of learning results is carried out by conducting written and oral exams, testing, performing calculation, graphic and individual tasks, defense of laboratory works, course projects and practice reports, presentations of the results of educational and research work.
Forms of control measures, criteria, methods and assessment tools correspond to the learning goals and program learning outcomes of each educational component, ensure the objectivity of assessment, transparency of procedures and the possibility of checking the achievement of competences in the field of construction and civil engineering by students.
