Meeting of professional associations within the SWITLO project
On October 30, Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University warmly welcomed English language teachers from the city of Zaporizhzhia, who gathered for a meeting of professional associations within the framework of the SWITLO project of the British Council in Ukraine.
The session was dedicated to trauma-informed teaching, discussing the impact of trauma on students and the learning process, summarizing ways to support students and create a safe learning environment.
The work of the colleagues was coordinated by the facilitators of the «SWITLO» project, English teachers: Anastasiia Kirylenko and Iryna Lutsova (Zaporizhsky Gymnasium #11), Nataliya Belmas (Zaporizhsky Lyceum #71) and Yuliia Yanchuk (Zaporizhsky Gymnasium #110).
Participants of the meeting were greeted by vice-rector Andrii Ivanchenko and Acting Head of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Nataliia Zhukova.
Active support of the project in Zaporizhzhia is carried out by Iryna Nagornova, consultant of the Municipal Institution «Center for Professional Development of Pedagogical Workers» of the Zaporizhzhia City Council.
The project «SWITLO» (Skills and Well-being in Teacher Learning Opportunities) is aimed at providing assistance to teachers in creating a powerful professional community through interaction and reflection, as well as in preparing opportunities for planning a development program based on the needs of participants (TAG – Teacher Activity Group).
