Journalism is the fourth power
A journalist is not a profession, but a calling… And what is extremely important is to discover this treasure in oneself, incredible abilities for creative activity, to develop thinking, imagination, to practice writing new and more beautiful lines every time. Happy is the one who is engaged in a favorite thing, who has found himself in life.
In Zaporizhzhia, the issue of youth development is actively monitored, helping young seekers find their way, discover their most secret abilities and skills, and understand their own role on earth. That is why the city hosts many various exhibitions, competitions, and events that call on young people to self-knowledge, because, unfortunately, most of the younger generation has completely forgotten about true life values, good intentions, so it is necessary to help them, to show them the right paths that can lead to a happy and dignified life. The field of journalism is also developing extremely widely and diligently.
On November 5 at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Eighth All-Ukrainian Exhibition of Youth Newspapers "Youth Accent – 2013", a round table "Journalistic Activities of Mass Media Editorial Offices in the Formation of the Youth Value System" was held. The exhibition was created to present the best representatives of the youth press of Ukraine, as well as to exchange experience of work by teams of newspaper publications of school and student youth, as well as other educational and creative associations of young correspondents. Since 2005, the Exhibition of Youth Newspapers "Youth Accent" has gathered the best editorial offices of Ukraine in the nominations "School Press", "Student Press", "Youth Press". Starting from an open city level, the Exhibition has grown into a regional, interregional and since 2008 into an all-Ukrainian project, which unites more than 100 youth newspapers from 14 regions of Ukraine. It is precisely because of its scale that it has a large number of sponsors, Zaporizhzhia institutions acted as the organizing committee: JSC «MOTOR SICH», Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Zaporizhzhia Regional Council, Zaporizhzhia City Council, Executive Committee of Zaporizhzhia City Council, Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Department of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Zaporizhzhia City Council, Zaporizhzhia Regional Center for Patriotic Education of Youth, Exhibition Center «Kozak-palace». The head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Youth Council and Student Self-Government of ZNTU, Andriy Volodymyrovych Ivanchenko, was also invited to the opening of this grand event.
The distinguished guest wished all participants of the exhibition creative success and inspiration. Andriy Volodymyrovych called on all those present to take an active part in the life of their hometown, because journalism is the fourth power. It is it that has an extraordinary influence on society. He reminded that everyone should be aware of this enormous power, that is, they should not forget about their responsibility to their readers, be restrained, modest, honest, persistently and carefully follow the chosen paths, give society new thoughts and ideas, and write in a way that would impress even the heartless.
We would like to express our gratitude to the trade union committee of students of ZNTU for supporting such a large-scale event in Zaporizhzhia. It’s great that such events take place in our city, helping us, the young and uneducated, to realize ourselves in life.
