Roundtable discussion dedicated to the rights of defenders, veterans and their family members

On March 13, a roundtable discussion dedicated to the rights of defenders, veterans and their family members was held at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.

The organizers were the authors of the information manual «Legal Field of a Veteran of the War for Independence of Ukraine»: Dean of the Law Faculty Yurii Filey, Head of the Department of Constitutional, Administrative and Labor Law Ruslana Maksakova, as well as representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Rehabilitation Space for Veterans of the Ukrainian Army «Blokpost», lawyer, head of the Zaporizhzhia branch of the NGO «Association of Lawyers of Ukraine», member of the Council of Lawyers of the Zaporizhzhia Region Dmytro Maistro, and lawyer, head of the NGO «PRAVOVA SKELYA» Viktoriya Gamayunova.

The guests discussed with teachers, graduate students and students, the problems faced by defenders, veterans, their relatives, as well as families of prisoners of war, missing and deceased, the changes required by Ukrainian legislation and the educational process, the issues of the processes of identifying the deceased and collecting data.

We also drew attention to the constant changes in legislation that are occurring quite quickly and that need to be monitored in order to enable veterans and their families to be protected and receive appropriate social guarantees.

We will continue cooperation in the field of ensuring the implementation of the rights and freedoms of servicemen and their families, in particular, students will be able to practice in the «Blockpost» training center, as well as, using the information manual, develop and form new legislative proposals for central government bodies.
