On November 13, 2024, 135 years have passed since the birthday of the Ukrainian writer, witty humorist and scathing satirist Ostap Vyshny.
On the occasion of this significant date, the philological section of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training of the Faculty of Humanities held an interfaculty cultural and educational event «I laughed and cried with love».
The event was attended by students of the 1st year of the Faculty of Information Security and Electronic Communications, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology, the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports Management, and the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training, Tetyana Katysh, told the audience interesting facts about the writer, about the comic and dramatic circumstances of his creative and personal life. Students prepared interesting presentations about the life and creative path of Ostap Vyshny, jokes and smiles performed by first-year students were heard. The audience was particularly interested in the audio book «Hunting Smiles», excerpts from which were enjoyed by actor Pyotr Panchuk at the event. The students learned a lot of new things, convinced that Ostap Vyshnya is one of the brightest Ukrainian writers of the 20th century.

I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers for holding the event dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the birth of the Ukrainian humorist Ostap Vyshny. I was able to plunge into the wonderful world of his work. During the meeting, audio recordings were played, on which modern actors and masters of the word recited excerpts from the artist’s most famous humorous pieces. An exciting introduction to the creative heritage of Ostap Vyshny through presentations, video materials and a discussion did not leave anyone indifferent (Arina Bogma, ETF-514).

I joined the cultural and educational event as a participant and spectator and received a lot of positive emotions. A wonderfully structured script that combined presentations about the biography of Ostap Vyshny and interesting facts from his life, humorous scenes in the sound recording of actors and performances by students of our university. Many thanks to the organizers and the team of students for creating such a unique and unforgettable experience for those present. Thank you for the opportunity to take part in this event, I got a new experience and incredible pleasure (Valerii Kozak, MF-314).
