Honoring the Great Kobzar near the «Tarasova Pear»
On May 22, the day of Taras Shevchenko’s reburial, the Great Kobzar was honored near the «Tarasova Pear».
In 1843, the poet, while in Zaporizhzhia, visited the family of Prokop Bulat in the village of Voznesenetsi. On hot August days, he rested under a wild pear tree that grew in the yard. The pear tree has survived to this day.
Zaporizhzhia writers, poets, and admirers of his work gathered to honor Taras Shevchenko. The event was attended by the head of the regional organization «Let’s Preserve the Shrines of Zaporizhzhia» Sviatoslav Shcherbyna, artist Anatoliy Zavgorodniy, as well as representatives of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University: director of the museum Nataliia Derkach and associate professor of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training Kateryna Bondarchuk.
