Congratulations to the winners of the University Essay Competition in English!

On November 15, a solemn ceremony of summing up the results of the University essay competition in English «The Role of a Translator in the Age of AI» took place.

The competition started in September on the occasion of International Translator’s Day. Many different essays were submitted for consideration by the jury, in which students of various faculties considered the role of a professional translator in the era of rapid development of artificial intelligence.

The ceremony was opened with a welcome speech by rector Viktor Greshta, assistant rector Mariia Pavlenko, dean of the Faculty of Humanities Mykola Dyedkov and acting the head of the department of foreign philology and translation Nataliia Zhukova.

The high quality of the presented works was noted, so we have six winners:

1st place:

• Sofiia Dorofeeva, GF-321 (consultant — assistant professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Hanna Kostenko)
• Olesya Kholosta, GF-312 (consultant – associate professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Iryna Kashirina)

2nd place:

• Olexandra Gancheva, GF-314 (consultant — associate professor of the department of foreign philology and translation Yurii Polezhaev)
• Karolina Limar, GF-313 (consultant — Anna Pidgorna, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation)

3rd place

• Anna Bocharska, GF-321 (consultant — assistant professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Anna Kostenko)
• Mariia Nakonechna, GF-313 (consultant — Anna Pidgorna, associate professor of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation)

The winners of the 17th International Competition of scientific research cultural and creative works in foreign languages «What are the potential advantages and dangers of artificial intelligence?» were also awarded within the solemn ceremony. (English language):

• Kateryna Lyashova was awarded a certificate of the winner of the 1st degree in the nomination «Creative view» (supervisor – associate professor of the department of foreign philology and translation Yurii Polezhaev)
• Mariia Bashkatova was awarded with a certificate of the winner of the III degree in the nomination «Non-standard solution» (scientific supervisor – associate professor of the department of foreign philology and translation Yurii Polezhaev)
• Vladislav Gavrylenko was awarded a certificate of the winner of the III degree in the nomination «Conceptual approach» (supervisor – acting head of the department of foreign philology and translation Nataliia Zhukov)
