Open robotics tournament «RoboticUm–2024»
On November 30, the VI Open robotics tournament «RoboticUm-2024» took place in the format of an educational and entertaining event, which was organized by the ZPO «Communary District Center for Youth and Schoolchildren» in cooperation with the Children’s and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University with the support of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhzhia City Council.
The purpose of the event is to popularize STEM education, scientific and engineering knowledge, development of research, inventive, rationalizing abilities of schoolchildren in the field of robotics and IT technologies among children and adolescents.
Participants were greeted by vice-rector Andrii Ivanchenko, director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova, director of the ZPO «Communary District Center for Youth and Schoolchildren» Mykhailo Khvastyk and President of the National Shooting Horting Federation Serhii Yelin.
The event aroused great interest among schoolchildren – more than 60 people willing to compete registered! The children attended master classes in mechatronics and avionics from the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, got acquainted with the Museum of the History of Technical Progress and the exhibition «Seven Feet Under the Keel» by Volodymyr Gordiychenko, dedicated to sea adventures.
The program of the event was interesting, informative, meaningful and super-saturated: locations with Lego construction, interactive games, a cyborg-sumo battle, a robot competition in two categories of Lego Ev3 and Arduino in three age categories, a trip to the virtual world of Matrix together with the Zaporizhzhia Vocational College of Computer Technologies. The event was accompanied by the bright and fiery Doctor Eureka and Chomuchka.
The tournament ended with a solemn celebration of the winners and all participants with diplomas, certificates, wonderful gifts from the organizers and goodies from the partner of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic — CITY MALL shopping center.
