Opening of the memorial plaque of the Ukrainian scientist-metallurgist Valentin Vasyliovych Lunyov
Today, November 26, we commemorated and opened a memorial plaque to our teacher, colleague and friend Valentin Vasylyovych Lunyov, Ukrainian scientist-metallurgist, doctor of technical sciences, professor, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, academician of engineering sciences, honored worker of science and technology, head of the department of machines and technology of foundry production, director of the Physical and Technical Institute, who worked for many years at the Zaporizhzhia Machine-Building Institute, the Zaporizhzhia State Technical University, the Zaporizhzhia National Technical University, and the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
He prepared a huge number of scientific works, which were aimed at increasing the defense capability of our country and increasing its economic potential. In particular, important trends in the creation of special foundry steels and alloys, which were used in important spheres of economic activity for our country. His scientific achievements amounted to more than 500 scientific works and 30 patents for inventions. With his hard work in scientific activities, he built fame and respect for our university in the scientific community of metallurgy and foundry production.
Today, Valentin Vasyliovych’s students continue to develop the directions started by him in their own works. Candidates and doctors of science develop already modernized carbon and alloy heat-resistant, heat-resistant, corrosion-resistant steels and alloys, which are used for the manufacture of modern equipment at our industrial enterprises.
Valentyn Vasyliovych was a man with a big heart: a good family man, loved his family, always hurried home. However, for him, his university, his students, his pupils, his colleagues were also his family, in which he invested a large part of his soul, formed them as scientific personalities, teachers, great professionals of his metallurgical business. Today, his students head many industrial enterprises, important structural subdivisions of industrial enterprises of our country and other countries.
Valentyn Vasyliovych’s achievements are noted by many colleagues who work in the field of foundry metallurgy, who always treated him with great respect as an outstanding figure of science and technology of Ukraine.
We are proud that we had the opportunity to work together at the university, carry out many joint scientific projects, and educate young people. And we will continue this important work – training the younger generation, real professionals in their field.
