Participation of Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University in the Days of Ukraine in Bavaria

The Days of Ukraine are an annual event organized by the German-Ukrainian Academic Society in various federal states of Germany since 2016. This year’s Days of Ukraine in Bavaria/Tage der Ukraine in Bayern took place at the University of Bayreuth on October 1-2. They were organized jointly with the Department of Metals and Alloys of the University of Bayreuth and focused on Bavarian-Ukrainian projects.

The main idea of ​​the event is to highlight, develop and promote cooperation at the scientific and educational level between universities of the respective federal state and Ukrainian higher education institutions. This year’s Days of Ukraine were organized under the motto “Combining ideas, developing knowledge – forming excellence and partnership/Ideen entwickeln, Wissen aufbuen – Excellenz und Partnerschaft stärken”. The program brought together representatives of universities, research institutions, financial institutions and government organizations to engage in dialogue, exchange experiences and explore new formats of cooperation.

High-ranking academic and political representatives delivered welcoming speeches, namely Vice President of Bayreuth University Prof. Dr. Nina Nestler, Consul General of Ukraine in Munich Yurii Nykytiuk, Mayor of Bayreuth Thomas Ebersberger, President of the German-Ukrainian Academic Society Prof. Dr. Olga Garaschuk, as well as Head of the Department of Metals and Alloys of Bayreuth University Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Glatzel.

The Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University was represented at the event by Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Activities Valeriy Naumyk. He discussed with the head of the Department of Metals and Alloys of the University of Bayreuth, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Glatzel, the possibilities and prospects of cooperation between the universities.

Professor of the Department of Economics and Customs Kateryna Antonyuk and Professor of the Department of Management and Administration Dmytro Antonyuk presented joint projects of the Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University with the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden. They summed up the successful project DILLUGIS (Digital Labs & Lectures for Ukrainian, German & lnternational Students) and announced the start of a new joint project TANDEM-UA-DE (Teaching and Administration Network for Double Degree Education and Mobility — Ukraine and German) under the auspices of DAAD, designed for four years from 2025 to 2029.

Negotiations were held with the representative of the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden, the head of the Center of Competence for Bavaria, Central and Eastern Europe (KOMO) Marian Mure regarding further initiatives, including providing Zaporizhia Polytechnic National University with logistical assistance to eliminate the consequences and damage from Russian attacks.

During a tour of the Department of Metals and Alloys Our representatives from the University of Bayreuth noted the proximity of the research direction in the field of materials science to the corresponding research directions of our departments of materials science and foundry production, the general orientation of the complex to the needs of the aviation engine industry.

Therefore, new projects, achievements and victories are ahead. Working together – developing together!

Participation of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University in the Days of Ukraine in Bavaria

The Days of Ukraine is an annual event organized by the German-Ukrainian Academic Society since 2016 in different federal states of Germany. This year’s Days of Ukraine in Bavaria (Tage der Ukraine in Bayern) took place at the University of Bayreuth on October 1–2, focusing on Bavarian-Ukrainian academic and research cooperation. The event was co-organized by the Department of Metals and Alloys of the University of Bayreuth and aimed to strengthen scientific and educational ties between Bavarian and Ukrainian universities.

The main goal of the event was to promote collaboration in science and higher education, providing a platform for universities, research institutions, and funding organizations to exchange experiences and explore new cooperation formats. The 2024 event was held under the motto “Connecting ideas, developing knowledge — strengthening excellence and partnership” (Ideen entwicklenk, Wissen aufbauen — Exzellenz und Partnerschaft stärken).

Opening remarks were delivered by distinguished academic and political figures, including Prof. Dr. Nina Nestler, Vice President of the University of Bayreuth, Yurii Nykytiuk, Consul General of Ukraine in Munich, Thomas Ebersberger, Mayor of Bayreuth, Prof. Dr. Olga Garaschuk, President of the German-Ukrainian Academic Society, and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Glatzel, Head of the Department of Metals and Alloys.

Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic was represented by Valerii Naumyk, Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs, who discussed prospects for collaboration with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Glatzel. Professors Kateryna Antoniuk (Department of Economics and Customs) and Dmytro Antoniuk (Department of Management and Administration) presented the university’s joint projects with Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden. They summarized the results of the successful DAAD-funded project DILLUGIS (Digital Labs & Lectures for Ukrainian, German & International Students) and announced the launch of a new four-year initiative — TANDEM-UA-DE (Teaching and Administration Network for Double Degree Education and Mobility — Ukraine and Germany), to be implemented from 2025 to 2029.

There were meetings with Marian Mure, Head of the Bavaria, Central and Eastern Europe Competence Center (KOMO) at OTH Amberg-Weiden, regarding future joint initiatives and material-technical support for Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic in repairing facilities damaged by Russian attacks.

An excursion to the Department of Metals and Alloys of the University of Bayreuth highlighted the close alignment between German and Ukrainian research directions in materials science and foundry technologies, particularly in the field of aircraft engine manufacturing.

So, new projects, achievements and victories lie ahead.
