Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University held a workshop for the National Accessibility Week
As part of the National Accessibility Week, a practical workshop aimed at raising awareness of inclusion and creating a barrier-free environment took place at our university. Students and employees of the Polytechnic took part in the event, which took place on the basis of the «FREETIME» youth hub.
The main goal of the meeting was to build empathy and understand the needs of people who face various limitations every day. The speaker of the event was the head of the NGO «Youth without barriers» Iryna Zhuk.
The following topics were discussed in detail:
– the main types of barrier-free accessibility (architectural, digital, educational, social, etc.)
– rules of correct and respectful interaction
– features of using the «Dictionary of barrier-free accessibility»
– practical steps to create an inclusive and comfortable space at the university
The Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic consistently implements the principles of accessibility and equality. The experience gained by the participants will become the basis for the further development of an inclusive culture in the academic community and the improvement of the educational space.
Thank you to the NGO «Youth without barriers» for cooperation, and to all participants for their active position and willingness to jointly build a society of equal opportunities!
