Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University presented the project «Not lost hope»
On November 26, the Scientific Library of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University together with the Faculty of Humanities held a creative meeting with Valentyn Terletsky, the author of the TV project of the MTM channel «Not Lost Hope».
Writer, journalist, musician, author and host of the «Cossack Victory» YouTube channel and several documentary series, Mr. Valentyn drew attention to the problem of preserving the memory of objects of the unique tangible and intangible cultural heritage of Southern Ukraine, which after the occupation of a large part of the Zaporizhzhia region were under threat of destruction or appropriation.
The «NOT-lost hope» project is six 15-minute documentaries about the centuries-old identity of the Zaporizhzhia region: from Vyshyvanka and songs to Cossack crosses, the Stone Tomb and stone «grandmothers». The goal of the project is to become a voice of truth about the cultural and spiritual tragedy unfolding in the occupied territories of the Zaporizhzhia region.
The event brought together students, teachers, university employees, as well as students and teachers of the Dnipro-Rudnen specialized school «Talent». One of the films of the project was presented to them – «Secrets of the Stone Tomb», which reveals fascinating facts about a unique historical monument located near the city of Melitopol, a symbol of the antiquity of the Ukrainian people. Unfortunately, today this monument, which has the status of a National Historical and Archaeological Reserve, is cynically used by the Russian occupiers as a military base.
One of the key events of the event was the speech of famous Zaporozhian scientists: the head of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training, Heorhiy Shapovalov, and the associate professor of this department, Volodymyr Chop, who participated in the filming of the film as experts. The scientists shared exclusive materials about their legendary archaeological expeditions to the «Stone Tomb» reserve and other important objects of cultural heritage of the Zaporizhzhia region. They raised important questions about the future of the Stone Tomb and revealed its ancient secrets that it still holds.
Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Tetyana Khitrova congratulated the participants and emphasized the value of the project.
A harmonious addition to the event was the book exhibition «Zaporizhzhia region: a treasure trove of cultural memory», which was presented by Nataliya Fedko, head of the Scientific Library sector. A separate block presented the literary work of Valentin Terletskyi, whose works are kept in our library.
We sincerely thank all the participants and organizers of the event for their activity and look forward to new meetings!
