Training on providing psychological first aid from the charitable non-governmental organization «UK-Med»: for students, university employees and psychologists of Zaporizhzhia
Fruitful cooperation of the Department of Psychology with the charitable non-governmental organization «UK-Med» is actively ongoing. On May 31, the department of psychology, together with its undergraduate and graduate students, graduates of the department, psychologists of the city (PJSC «Zaporizhjiaoblenergo», Zaporizhzhia Humanitarian College, BF «Posmishka YA») took part in a training on providing psychological first aid, which was conducted by UK-Med psychologist Oleksandra Kordulyan.
Psychological first aid training was developed by UK-Med specialists to spread psychological first aid skills in crisis situations. It included an interactive theoretical part (recognition of those who need PPD as a priority; stabilization and assistance of a person depending on the reaction to stress and specific mental states) and practical exercises, which were carried out in the form of a discussion of emergency situations, role-playing games on providing psychological first aid, self-help.
This was already the fifth psychological first aid training from UK-Med, organized by the Department of Psychology in the spring semester. In total, from March to May, 98 participants were involved, who received useful and relevant professional knowledge and skills, as well as electronic certificates of participants.
Participation in the event of applicants of specialty 053 «Psychology» was carried out in accordance with the plan of activities of the Department of Psychology for the implementation and development of the mental health program with the determination of priority areas of systematic work on psychological support, creation of a system of services for mental health issues. The participation of the first-year master’s students took place within the framework of the study of the academic discipline «Psychological assistance in emergency situations».
