A Word That Strengthens the Spirit: Presentation of Books about Unconquered Ukraine

On March 14, the Scientific Library of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University hosted a presentation of books by writers from the Zaporizhzhia region, written during the Russian-Ukrainian war. The event brought together fans of the Ukrainian word and the literary power of our region, creating a unique atmosphere of inspiration, sincere emotions, and pride in Ukrainian literature. The organizer of the event was Nataliia Fedko, head of the Scientific Library sector. The event was organized for World Poetry Day, which we will celebrate on March 21.

The Scientific Library was visited by Zaporizhzhia writers, members of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine: Olha Stadnichenko, Pylyp Yuryk, Vira Koval, Larysa Koval, Vira Shmyha, Tetyana Osin, Valentyn Severynyuk, Nataliya Ignatieva, Valentyna Vislenko, Ivan Kushnirenko, as well as students and employees of the university, pupils and teachers from the Energodar community. The participants were greeted by Andriy Ivanchenko, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Socio-Economic Development and Youth Policy.

The program included a presentation of the anthology «Do not Worry, My Embroidered Paradise» – a collection created in the most difficult conditions: during air raids, in the basements of Hulyaipol and even during the temporary occupation. Also presented were books by Zaporizhzhia authors who, through personal experiences and insightful vision of the war, tell about a free, proud and unconquered Ukraine.

In addition to communicating with readers, the authors prepared a special gift – some books were given to the most intelligent and active guests of the event! Small literary quizzes and discussions aroused lively interest, and the winners received copies with personal signatures of the writers.

A total of 14 books were given to the library. Among them:

• Valentina Vislenko «YAK YE…» (poetry)
• Nataliya Ignatieva «Sociophobes, Psychos, etc.» (plays)
• Oksana Bevzyuk «Spring Will Come Out of the Cellar» (poetry)
• Ivan Kushnirenko «Tango of Fallen Leaves» (short story)
• Valentyn Severynyuk «That’s How We Became Friends with Moscow» (poem-chronicle)
• Pylyp Yurik «Instead of Our Own Children…» (short story, short story, humor)

At the end of the event, everyone had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the works of writers from the Zaporizhzhia region, which are in the collection of the scientific library.
