Family event «Mom, Dad, I – a sports family»
On July 20, a warm family event «Mom, Dad, I – a sports family» was held at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University. The holiday was held for residents of the Dniprodzerzhynsk community on the occasion of the City Day. This city was founded in 1961 thanks to the industrial development of iron ore at the Yuzhno-Belozersky deposit. Its city-forming enterprise is the Zaporizhzhia Iron Ore Plant.
Every year, on the third Sunday of July, Dniprodzerzhynsk Day is celebrated – the only city of miners in the Zaporizhzhia region. Like the previous two years, this takes place under temporary occupation. The Ukrainian city of Dniprorudne has been under temporary Russian occupation since the beginning of March 2022. At the time of the occupation, approximately 18 thousand people lived in the city of Dniprorudne, Vasylivka district.
Families took part in relay races held at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic Sports Complex, and fun was organized for the children of the community in the FREETIME youth hub, and after the entertainment they received gifts: ice cream, stationery, and art kits.
The participants were greeted by the head of the Dniprorudne City Military Administration, Anton Kozyrev. He also awarded the winners of the competitions and community activists. The head of the Vasylivka District Military Administration, Bohdan Starokon, and the general director of the Zaporizhzhia Iron Ore Plant, Andriy Karnaukh, also took part in the celebrations.
On behalf of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, Vice-Rector Andriy Ivanchenko congratulated the participants of the event. He expressed sincere admiration for the resilience and strength of spirit of the community residents.
