On December 12, representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University took part in the Interregional Sustainability Conference «Unbreakable Southeast», organized by the Ecosense NGO within the framework of the Impulse Project, implemented by the International Renaissance Foundation and the Eastern Europe Foundation with funding from Norway (Norad) and Sweden (Sida).
The participants were welcomed by Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration Mykhailo Semikin and Manager of the Democracy and Good Governance Program and the Impulse Project of the International Renaissance Foundation, Tetyana Kukharenko.
The panel discussions discussed practices for early recovery and sustainable development of territorial communities, as well as risk management of their resilience during war. The participants were representatives of local governments and the regional military administration of Southern Ukraine, the public, scientific and law enforcement sectors, as well as experts and scholars in the fields of ecology, energy management and sustainable agricultural development.
During the round table «Sustainable Business – Sustainable Region: Cases of the South-East and the Role of Business Communities», the first vice-rector of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University Serhiy Shylo presented our university case of sustainability. The main thing is to interest young people. Not to create an artificial picture, but to prove every day: our students chose us for a reason. Science, public activity, opening new spaces, international activity, work on energy security – everyone will find a place to show themselves. Young people who stay in Zaporizhzhia are a vector of sustainability and development of the city and the region.
The round table was moderated by Andriy Karpenko, director of the Zaporizhzhia cluster «Engineering-Automation-Mechanical Engineering», professor of the Department of Economics and Customs of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic. Andriy Kuts, vice-president of the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, associate professor of the Department of Management and Administration, also took part.
The main areas of sustainability were discussed: the human factor – competence, leadership, adaptability; innovation; issues of energy autonomy or continuity of operations; changes in the market, customers, logistics; partnerships, cooperation, network interaction, business communities.
Thank you for the meaningful discussions! Working together – developing together!
