Damage to Dormitory No. 2 and the University Sports Complex on November 11, 2024

Tonight, November 11, as a result of another Russian shelling, our Dormitory No. 2 and the University Sports Complex were damaged by a blast wave.

At approximately 1:30 a.m., when the residents of the dormitory were supposed to be resting, they heard the sounds of an explosion, immediately after which glass flew out. An employee of the sports complex was injured. Fortunately, her injuries were minor and not life-threatening.

Broken windows, broken facades, piles of glass on the floor, damaged awards of our athletes, cut heating, water and gas pipes, lack of electricity due to a damaged transformer substation – this is our reality today.

Students and their relatives who left the occupied territories currently live in our dormitories. Many families with children. Now the main goal is to provide them with decent living conditions. Winter is approaching and above all we strive to provide people with the opportunity to live in a warm home.

Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University has always been known as the most sporty among non-sports universities. Our sports complex has been and will be a venue for performances and training of sports winners: the university’s national teams in basketball, volleyball, futsal, cross-minton, and the most outstanding athletes – the university’s national team in sports aerobics, which has won numerous international and world victories. We want to do everything possible to return the athletes their training grounds.

We will be grateful for prompt assistance in restoring what was lost to international organizations, charitable foundations, and other organizations that can help.
