Over 500 opportunities: Ukrainian researchers prepare to participate in Horizon Europe
The National Contact Point for Research Infrastructures, operating at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, has begun actively advising Ukrainian scientists on submitting applications for open calls for proposals under the Horizon Europe program. The calls are open for a short period of time, so intensive preparation of project applications and formation of consortia that unite researchers around common scientific tasks are underway.
Representatives of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences are approached by both scientists from our university and colleagues from other educational institutions, institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, representatives of various NGOs and businesses.
A university team has been formed, including experts in artificial intelligence and big data processing. Their competencies are needed for project proposals related to nature restoration for sustainable agriculture, biodiversity research, digital solutions for small and medium-sized farms, and agricultural and natural resource monitoring.
Following a recent visit by a delegation from Riga Technical University to the Polytechnic, a proposal was made to prepare a joint project application related to the development of student training practices in the field of green technologies in the aviation industry.
We have an offer from King’s College London to join the consortium to participate in the «MSCA4Ukraine» competition, aimed at developing academic mobility of scientists and students. This will provide opportunities to implement the practical part of research and gain access to research equipment, which is important in the context of damage to the infrastructure of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.
Together with aviation enterprises of the Zaporizhzhia region, we continue to develop joint applications aimed at developing tools for certifying anti-icing systems, researching ice-repellent materials and coatings, and testing anti-icing systems.
Cooperation with the Ukrainian Business Council, the Zaporizhzhia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Engineering – Automation – Mechanical Engineering cluster, the Ukrainian Association of Smart Agro-Industry NGO, and other partners is actively developing.
The work program for 2025 includes more than fifty open competitions, and Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University unites scientists from different fields, so each research team will be able to find a suitable competition and join the European Research Area.
