Results of the BIOART international educational project
October 4-5, 2021 at the Madrid Polytechnic University (Spain) as part of the implementation of the international educational project «Innovative Multidisciplinary Curriculum in Artificial Implants for Bio-Engineering BSc/MSc Degrees» (BIOART, registration number 586114-EPP-1-2017-1-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP) of the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, the final meeting of the consortium representatives took place to summarize the results of the project implementation and prepare the final report for the European Commission.
Representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, project coordinator, prof. Halyna Tabunshchik, prof. Vadym Shalomeev and associate professor Anzhelika Parkhomenko took part in the discussion of the project results in the relevant areas: development of a new curriculum and new academic disciplines; assessment of the quality of project implementation; dissemination of project results and their sustainability; project management, financial management.
The main results obtained by the NUZP team during the implementation of the BIOART project are the following:
– Successful accreditation of the new multidisciplinary educational program «Telemedical and biomedical systems» by the joint efforts of several departments: radio engineering and telecommunications, software and physical materials science (autumn 2020).
– Pilot training of students under the new educational program in 2019-2020 and 2020-2021
– Purchase of modern equipment for student training at the expense of a grant from the EU in the amount of more than 2,500,000 hryvnias.
– Publication of the textbook in English «Teaching and subjects on bio-medical engineering» jointly with colleagues from 12 educational and scientific institutions in Belgium, Austria, Spain, Poland, Israel, Ukraine.
– Publishing and re-publishing at the expense of a grant from the EU educational manuals in Ukrainian in the amount of 9 editions: «Prototyping of biomedical devices and structures»; «Automated design of electronic devices in Creo and ALTIUM DESIGNER environments»; «Embedded biomedical systems and wireless sensor networks»; «Materials science of medical products»; «Neural networks: theory and practice»; «Designing the information infrastructure of medical and telemedicine systems»; «Millimeter waves and their application in medicine»; «Design of surface elements in mechanical engineering», «Software quality engineering».
– Internship at the expense of a grant from the EU of university teachers in Israel, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Poland.
– Organization of a special section on the subject of the BIOART project as part of the International scientific and practical conference «Modern problems and achievements in the field of radio engineering, telecommunications and information technologies» (October 2018, October 2020).
– Organization of the International Week to the 120th Anniversary of the University (November, 2020).
– Conducting an international student Hackathon and organizing a study visit of NUZP students to the Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology named after E. Sitenka of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (Kharkiv, September 2021).
Unfortunately, due to bureaucratic obstacles, our university was unable to purchase Timu, a robot manufactured by Infocom, Zaporizhzhia, for the educational process. The final report and audit of the results of the project implementation by external European experts are still ahead.
Implementation of the BIOART project at NUZP opened up new opportunities for students and teachers of the university, made it possible to implement modern directions in educational and scientific activities in accordance with the objectives of improving the quality of education and integrating Ukraine into the European educational space.
