In August 2020, after submitting an application to the Magna Charta Observatory international union of universities, our university became a signatory of the Great Charter of Universities (Magna Charta Universitatum).

Magna Charta Universitatum, a declaration and affirmation of the basic principles on which the mission of universities should be based, was signed in 1988 on the occasion of the 900th anniversary of the University of Bologna. This document defines the fundamental principles that should guide universities to ensure the development of education and innovation in a rapidly changing world. The purpose of the charter was to celebrate the most important values of university traditions and promote close ties between European universities.

The Charter enshrines the main values, rights and duties of the university as a key institution of society, the activity of which is dedicated to defining and spreading the most important principles and knowledge, providing society with intellectual guidelines.

In the conditions of new technologies in 2020, the text of the Magna Carta was updated. On April 9, 2021, the updated charter was signed. Rector of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University by Professor S.T. Yarymbash. Due to quarantine restrictions, the Magna Charta Universitatum 2020 signing ceremony was held online by the Magna Charta Observatory, an international union of universities, on June 16-17. Representatives of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University participated in the online conference: first vice-rector E.A. Gugnin, vice-rector for scientific work and international activities V.V. Naumyk, head of the Center for Internationalization and International Cooperation D.D. Plynokos. and Prof. S.B. Belikov, on whose initiative in 2020 Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic became a signatory of the Great Charter of Universities.

Joining the international university union is an important step and achievement of our university, which will affect the educational attractiveness of the university and its ratings.

At the moment, the Great Charter of Universities has about 900 members, including leading universities from 86 countries of the world.
