We do not remain indifferent
Most of the readers, I am sure, grew up in a family. Have you ever wondered how children live in an orphanage? I think that even the kindest and most caring educators will never be able to replace the warmth and love of a father and mother. There is a trend of decreasing the number of orphans, but without parental care, in Ukraine, there are still about a hundred thousand of them. Who will help children left to their fate? The state actively promotes social programs for adoption. Many volunteer organizations are trying to create decent living and study conditions for children. And students, of course, cannot stay away.
How can the Trade Union Committee of Students, Postgraduate Students and Doctoral Students of Zaporizhzhia National Technical University help orphanages, because members of the ZNTU Trade Union Committee are frequent guests in many such institutions. Children are always happy to receive toys, sweets and a cheerful mood brought by caring students and others. Good games, interesting performances and just moments of ordinary childish happiness are forever etched in the memory of little people who need it so much. But not all the help they need is limited to sweet presents. Children should be surrounded not only by an atmosphere of love and warmth, but also by physical warmth. It was with this request that the staff of the Zaporizhzhia children’s home «Sonechko» addressed the trade union committee of students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of ZNTU. A group of activists led by the head of the trade union bureau of students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of ZNTU, Gudkova Anna, came to the rescue.
On the eve of St. Mykola Day, the predominantly female team of the «Sonechko» orphanage desperately needed help. They were sorely lacking male hands to complete the renovation in one of the residential buildings of the institution. Helpers from ZNTU cleaned up construction debris and put the utility rooms in order. Old mattresses and rotten boards, broken slate and broken bricks had no chance against the pressure, hard work and enthusiasm of the «Mashinka» students. Dirty and slightly injured, we did our job perfectly.
In the evening, returning to the university, despite the fatigue, the faces of all the «subbotnik» participants were beaming with satisfaction. How nice and easy it is to do good deeds. No one even doubted that they would come here again. Unfortunately, this is not the only orphanage in Ukraine, and the fate of the younger generation depends on everyone. We do not remain indifferent.
