Past — Present — Eternity: Through the Pages of Works by Writers of the Zaporizhzhia Region

Poetry is worth being a constant companion in our lives, inspiring, supporting, teaching and loving. The interfaculty cultural and educational event «Past — Present — Eternity: Through the Pages of Works by Writers of the Zaporizhzhia Region», which took place on December 9, was dedicated to getting to know the poetic work of artists of the Zaporizhzhia Region. About 100 participants joined the online discussion.

Stories of the development of the literary process in Zaporizhzhia, stories about the literary and poetic heritage of Zaporizhzhia artists, analysis of their work with recitation of poems and performance of songs to the words of Zaporizhzhia masters of the word were prepared by students of different faculties: Danylo Shapoval (ETF–414), Arina Bohma (ETF–313), Dmytro Tyshchenko (ETF–414), Valeria Demikhova (FBTE–1214), Mykyta Symonenko (FKNT–214), Mykyta Yakymenko (FKNT–134).

The participants got acquainted with the development of the literary process in Zaporizhzhia as a multifaceted and diverse phenomenon, which is represented by a whole galaxy of writers. Associate Professor Tetyana Bilenko and Senior Lecturer Lina Myronyuk participated in the organization and preparation of information for the event.

Poetess, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, head of the Zaporizhzhia branch of the Association of Young Parents «Berehynia Rodu» Yana Yakovenko shared her memories, emphasizing the importance of preserving national identity through words. Poems by a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists Mykhailo Buryak were especially popular. An extraordinary atmosphere was created by a poetic and musical performance by writer and composer Olha Lishchuk. The guests read their own poetic works and shared their thoughts on the importance of poetry in the development and attitude of their personality.

The meeting was organized and held by the philological section of the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training of the Faculty of Humanities. Nataliya Fedko, head of the fiction subscription sector, told the participants about the work of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University library, and also prepared a video series of poetry meetings and book exhibitions held at its base.

I was stunned by the depth of content and emotional richness of the cultural and educational event: history, culture and modern literary creativity. The event united different generations, highlighting the historical, literary and spiritual aspects of Ukrainian culture. The meeting with outstanding poets Mykhailo Buryak, Olha Lishchuk and Yana Yakovenko inspired a rethinking of ideas about the role of the poet in modern society. I was very interested in their speeches and, first of all, they reminded me of the importance of preserving national identity through the word. Listening to Mykhailo Buryak’s speech, I felt sadness and pain, because his son went missing. At the same time, I have an unshakable hope that everything will be fine with him and his family. Mykhailo made a strong impression on me, because despite the difficulties, he still came to the meeting and read lines of old poetry, which sounded like the voice of a true patriot who, even in the most difficult times, finds a way to support others in words. His sincerity was one of those moments that cannot be forgotten. Olha Lishchuk shared her memories of her childhood and her personal experience of becoming a writer. With ardent patriotism, Yana Yakovenko emphasized the importance of language culture and creativity, explained why it is important today.

I thank the organizers for a wonderful event that was held at a high level. A friendly atmosphere was created, which contributed to active interaction between the participants. The speakers were professionals in their field, and the materials they presented were interesting and useful. It was interesting to listen to poetry performed by Olha Lischuk, especially to the guitar. In general, I liked the event, because it is one of the few at which students learn about their native land and its cultural heritage. Listening encourages you to learn more about writers whose work is connected with Zaporizhzhia

The event, dedicated to the history of the development of the literary process in Zaporizhzhia, in particular the heritage of local writers, made a strong positive impression on me. The program included presentations, poetry readings, exhibitions of works, stories about the creative path of outstanding artists, as well as speeches by modern authors, such as: Yana Yakovenko, Mykhailo Buryak and Olha Lishchuk. The participants of the event demonstrated their sincere love for literature, talent and inspiration. I liked how the students’ reports and poets’ performances were harmoniously combined. This made it possible to look at the literature of the Zaporizhzhia region as a living, dynamic and relevant part of our culture. I was especially impressed by the songs performed on the poems of modern artists — it was sincere and emotional.

I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers for holding the event dedicated to the literary traditions of the Zaporizhzhia Region and its spiritual aspects. I was able to plunge into the wonderful world of artistic creativity of writers. The meeting was very rich: from the exhibition of the works of the word artists to a fascinating introduction to their creative heritage through presentations, video materials and poetry readings. The performance of Yana Yakovenko, a poet and head of the Zaporizhzhia branch of the Association of Young Parents «Beregynia Rodu», was particularly impressive.

The event left very positive impressions. It was interesting and rich. The organization was at a high level, and the created atmosphere was conducive to communication, exchange of ideas and cultural enrichment. The topic of the event was the history of the development of the literature of the Zaporizhzhia region and its contribution to the formation of Ukrainian culture and literature in general. Special attention was paid to the stages of the development of literature: from the times of the Cossacks to the present. The participants of the event shared knowledge about the work of outstanding writers of the Zaporizhzhia region, and also presented the modern literary heritage of the region. The program of the event included both informative reports and performances by guest poets, reading poems and singing songs. I listened with particular delight to the stories of modern poets who not only shared their own literary experience, but also recited their poems filled with emotions and deep meaning. The performance of songs to the words of these authors created an incredibly warm and soulful atmosphere that will remain in memory for a long time. This meeting was a real revelation for me personally. I believe that such events are extremely relevant, because they contribute to increasing interest in native culture, develop a love of reading and respect for Ukrainian literary heritage
