Interfaculty roundtable «Language in the Dimensions of Today: Linguistic and Linguodidactic Aspects»

On November 5, on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, the Department of Ukrainian Studies and General Language Training held an intellectual and spiritual interfaculty roundtable on the topic: «Language in the Dimensions of Today: Linguistic and Linguodidactic Aspects», which was attended by about seventy students from various faculties of our university. The purpose of the conference was to involve students in scientific research activities, to demonstrate the importance of the state language, and to present and test scientific research.

The event was opened by Snezhana Vychuzhanina, head of the department of student research, who welcomed the participants of the interfaculty round table and emphasized the importance of holding the relevant event and the exceptional significance of the native language not only in national cultural traditions, but also in the geopolitical dimension, and also thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the opportunity to work.

The round table meeting became a platform for speeches and presentations by students of many fields. First-year bachelors who seek to study the richness of the Ukrainian word in depth joined the discussion of linguistic problems. The participants focused on the study of the following issues:

  • formation of the terminological system: Tetyana Sydorenko (KNT–134) — «Secondary nomination as one of the ways of creating computer terminology»; Diana Savka (BTU–1214) — «Internationalisms in economic terminology: features of reproduction in the Ukrainian language»
  • violation of the norms of speech culture: Alina Mashchenko (CH–114) — «Incorrect vocabulary in modern media communication: ethical norms and language practice»
  • the influence of modern events on the features of the functioning of the language: Ilarion Kholodulin (BK–814) — «The influence of social networks on the Ukrainian language»
  • reflection of national socio-cultural specificity: Yan Karpenko (KNT–124) — «Reflection of national socio-cultural specificity in phraseologisms of media discourse»; Iryna Kulyk (CH–114) — «The influence of verbal and non-verbal means of communication on the formation of ethnic stereotypes of American and Ukrainian ethnic groups»; Oleksandr Lyuty (BK–814) — «Ethics and etiquette in business communication with foreigners»
  • representation of linguistic personality in the Internet space: Yevheniy Sverhun (KNT–134) — «Gamer’s nickname as a specific form of self-presentation of personality in Internet communication»; Yegor Devyatka (KNT–114) — «Emotional vocabulary for indicating emotions of pleasure and sadness (based on Instagram posts)»
  • formation of cultural and gender identity of an individual: Kateryna Chakmazova (KNT–124) «Gender features in linguistic communication (based on computer discourse)»; Yegor Vovk (ETF–714) — «The Importance of Gender Markers in the Translation of Official Business Speeches»

The relevance of the topic, scientific novelty, successful presentation of the material, oratory skills of the speakers, and properly prepared electronic presentations are the features that distinguished the speeches of most participants of this year’s interfaculty round table.

The students were actively assisted in preparing materials for reports and in designing presentations by their scientific supervisors: Associate Professor Tetyana Bilenko, Associate Professor Tetyana Katysh, and Senior Lecturer Lina Myronyuk.

We are confident that young people will continue their philological research! Working together – developing together!
