The Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine Replaces Reprimand to Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Rector Ivan Vakarchuk with Warning
On March 5, 2012, the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine amended Order No. 93-K, which provided for reprimands to rectors of six higher educational institutions of Ukraine, in particular, the rector of Lviv National University Ivan Vakarchuk.
The first paragraph of the order was replaced with a warning about disciplinary liability in the event of repeated cases of untimely social payments.
The reason for changing the decision of the Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports, as indicated in the order, is a memorandum dated March 5, 2012 from the Director of the Department of Economics and Finance Svitlana Danylenko.
Let us recall that on March 3, 2012, the website of the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine published information that the responsibility for the untimely payment of scholarship indexation lies with the management of higher educational institutions.
«The delay in paying the indexation occurred only in five higher educational institutions. And the only reason is, first of all, the improper performance of their duties by the management of several higher educational institutions… The guilty will be held strictly liable,» said Dmytro Tabachnyk.
In turn, the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv stated that the University’s rector was not to blame for the failure to pay the scholarship indexation, because he defended the position of the University and the interests of students through legal means.
