The future is on a 3D printer!
On April 12, students in grades 8–11 took part in a 3D printing master class, which was organized by the NGO «Zaporizhzhia Without Trash» in cooperation with the Children and Youth Scientific University of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University, with the assistance of Zero Waste Alliance Ukraine and with the support of Zero Waste Europe and MAVA Foundation.
The meeting was opened by the director of DYUNU Olena Nazarova and representatives of the NGO Ivan Kalosha and Liza Ivanova, who spoke about eco-conscious approaches: technologies should not harm nature, but on the contrary, help preserve it.
3D printing technology is perhaps the first to become a tool for eco-change: it helps reduce waste and support the «reuse-repair-recycle» approach.
And what practical tasks did the head of the «3D Printing in Mechanical Engineering» group of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University, Dmytro Kozak, prepare for schoolchildren?
— they learned how 3D printers work
— they created their own 3D model in a special program
— they learned about the properties of different types of plastic
— they made 3D parts on their own
And finally, a lively discussion:
— how to reduce the amount of plastic waste?
— conscious use of technology
— environmental challenges associated with the use of plastic
Many questions arise about whether schoolchildren can influence eco-processes today: even now, the youngest citizens are ready to invest in a future where innovations become eco-friendly!
Working together – developing together!
