Round table «Development of a network of Energy Innovation Hubs for the recovery of Ukraine. Challenges and areas of support»
On November 12, a round table of Energy Innovation Hubs, the NGO «School of Energy Efficiency» and GIZ was held on the topic: «Development of a network of Energy Innovation Hubs for the recovery of Ukraine. Challenges and areas of support.
Introductory remarks and greetings to the participants were delivered by the Director of the project »Promotion of energy efficiency and implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine«, GIZ GmbH Gregor Brömling, the advisor to this project Ihor Lepyoshkin, the Director of the Vocational Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine Iryna Shumik, as well as the Chairman of the Board of the NGO »School of Energy Efficiency Vyacheslav Lisovyk.
The participants of the Energy Innovation Hubs 1.0 from Dnipro, Chernivtsi and Kharkiv, which have been operating since 2019, as well as the «young» EnInHubs 2.0 from Zaporizhzhia, Lutsk, Kyiv and Sumy, presented their successes, challenges, plans and areas of development.
Energy Innovation Hub of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University was represented by the head of the hub, Iryna Nazarenko. She spoke about our goals, ways to achieve them, innovative approaches, tools and unique advantages of Zaporizhzhia and the capacities of Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic, where EnInHub is based, namely:
- within the framework of the energy security project (ESP) from USAID, gas installations were received, which will provide an opportunity to gain practical experience in combined energy production and distributed generation
- location in the territory of Zaporizhzhia region of internally displaced persons and ZHE, who, after deoccupation and further restoration, will be able to introduce relevant programs, modern technologies and development projects in their communities
- significant industrial and technological potential of the region
- wind and solar potential of the region for the implementation of large-scale projects in the field of renewable energy
- Europe’s largest nuclear, thermal and hydroelectric power plants located in the Zaporizhzhia region
During the round table meeting, key areas of support and cooperation with EnInHubs from the project «Promotion of energy efficiency and implementation of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive in Ukraine» and the NGO «School of Energy Efficiency», the development of international cooperation between EnInHubs were also discussed. The involvement of EnInHub representatives in the development and adaptation of training courses on energy efficiency, namely «Energy-efficient building heating systems and »Smart Building« technology» was considered; «Heat supply and optimization».
