Engineering week at Lyceum #15: from Micro:bit to the magic of physics

Teachers of the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic held a series of events for students of grades 9-10 of the Zaporizhzhia Academic Lyceum No. 15 as part of Engineering Week.

Associate professor of the department of electrical drive and automation of industrial installations Yevhen Potapenko and director of the Children’s and Youth Scientific University Olena Nazarova organized the «Do it with Micro:bit» location. They introduced the students to the prospects of developing projects based on the Micro:bit board, and together with the students, they implemented exciting activities:
– the mini-project «Magic Bullet», which gives answers to questions and predicts the future
– the dexterity game «Capture the dot»
– the work of Maqueen Micro:bit robocars, which showed the key principles of automation, mechatronics and electrical engineering

Harry Moroz, a senior lecturer at the Department of Radio Engineering and Telecommunications, prepared the location «Physics or Magic: Revealing the Secrets», where the students saw for themselves that numerous fascinating effects, similar to magic, are based on the known laws of physics. Radio signals, hydraulic systems, magnetic and electrical phenomena – high school students saw that physics is not only science, but also an amazing adventure.
