Horizon Europe for the titanium industry: information event from the National Enterprise «Research Infrastructures»
In August, an information event «Grant opportunities and support tools within the framework of the Horizon Europe program» was held at the Research and Design Institute of Titanium (Zaporizhzhia). The event was organized by representatives of the National Contact Point «Research Infrastructures» at the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University – head Dmytro Pavlenko and leading specialist Myroslava Shchetinina.
The first part of the meeting was devoted to a general overview of the program – its architecture, main directions and opportunities that Horizon Europe opens up for Ukrainian scientific institutions and businesses. The speakers recalled Ukraine’s status as an associated country of the program and equal rights of Ukrainian participants with partners from EU member states, outlined special initiatives to support Ukrainian researchers and startups, rules for forming a consortium and tools of the European Innovation Council. They also considered examples of successful Ukrainian projects that are already being implemented with the support of the program.
The second part was of an applied nature: the participants were presented with Cluster 4 competitions relevant to the scientific profile of the Titanium Research and Design Institute – in the field of innovative materials and reducing dependence on critical and strategic raw materials, as well as technologies for their processing. Particular attention was paid to comparing the requirements of European competitions with the existing competencies of the institute, as well as the conditions of participation, which should be considered even at the stage of forming a consortium.
The event ended with a practical block: the participants were told about the algorithm for submitting an application — from choosing a competition to the final submission — and answered the audience’s questions. The participants agreed on further individual consultations on finding partners and preparing project proposals.
The National Enterprise «Research Infrastructures» invites scientific institutions, universities and businesses to apply for consulting support:
