Fact-check brainstorming «Fake News» for students and practicing journalists
We continue the fight against fake news!
On September 25, the fact-check brainstorming «Fake News» for students and practicing journalists took place in the FREETIME youth hub at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University. The trainer-host was Oleksiy Sharabura, editor-in-chief of the fact-check project «Without Lies.»
A rich game, close-knit teams, networking for young journalists, fragrant coffee and a meeting of good friends — this was the atmosphere during the brainstorming session.
What tasks tested the participants’ knowledge?
- geolocation determination — working with OSINT technologies
- analysis of hostile propaganda narratives — team fact-check
- express verification of social media posts — searching for evidence of authenticity
- working with artificial intelligence: recognizing AI-processing of photos and debunking deepfakes
The fact-check brainstorming session was held as part of an international project «Beyond the Thresholds of Lies: Let’s Study and Counteract», implemented by the NGO «Social Interaction» and the Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic National University.
